Therapy for Men in Scottsdale, AZ
and online throughout Arizona and Texas
Built for men who are ready to do something different.
Maybe for a long time. You’re capable, you show up, you keep things moving. But something isn’t working anymore - in your relationship, at work, inside yourself - and the usual ways of pushing through aren’t cutting it.
Maybe your partner has been asking you to start therapy. Maybe you hit a wall you can’t get past on your own. Maybe you’re not even sure what’s wrong, just that something is. Whatever brought you here, you don’t need to have it figured out before you reach out.
You’ve been handling it.
Therapy for men looks different here.
Relationship conflict - the same arguments, the same distance, no resolution
Anger and emotional shutdown - reacting in ways you don’t want to or going completely quiet
Anxiety and stress - performing and holding it together while running on empty
Addiction and unhealthy coping - alcohol, work, porn, whatever’s been taking the edge off
Trauma - things that happened that you never really dealt with
Identity - not sure who you are outside of what you produce or provide
This isn’t therapy where you sit and talk in circles for an hour and leave feeling exactly the same. It’s a space where we figure out what’s actually going on; underneath the anger, the shutdown, the stress, the habits that aren’t serving you anymore, and do something about it. I work with men who are dealing with:
You don’t have to be good at talking about it….
Many of my male clients aren’t at least not at first. That’s not a problem. Part of what we do is build the language together. Figure out what’s actually going on underneath the surface, not just what’s easy to put into words.
I tend to be direct, practical, and more straightforward in how I work. I’m not going to sit quietly while you go in circles. I’ll name what I’m noticing and ask the hard questions when they need to be asked. I will also meet you exactly where you are. You don’t have to perform progress or pretend to have it together. This is a space where you can be honest and be yourself.
My Approach to Therapy for Men
A lot of men who come to therapy have spent years managing - not feeling, not processing, just pushing through. That works until it doesn’t. And when it stops working, it usually shows up in places that matter most - your relationships, your health, your ability to be present.
We will work together in understanding what’s happening, building real skills, addressing the patterns that keep showing up. We will also go back to where a lot of this started, because most of what brings men into my office has roots that go back further than the current problem.
I use EMDR, Post Induction Therapy, and accountability work alongside practical skill building and goal-focused work. The work is direct, collaborative, and always moving toward something. You’ll always know what we’re doing and why.
Get to the root of the anger, shutdown, or anxiety instead of just managing it
Communicate better in your relationships without it feeling like a foreign language
Break the habits and coping patterns that are getting in your way
Process things you’ve been carrying for years without knowing what to do with them
Show up differently in your relationship, at work, as a father, as a partner
Feel more like yourself - grounded, present, and in control of how you respond
Therapy can help men…

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The first session is an intake; I’ll ask a lot of questions to get a full picture of what’s going on and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. You don’t need to have it figured out before you show up. Most men leave the first session feeling like it was more straightforward than they expected.
-
A lot of men come to therapy because someone in their life suggested it and end up finding it genuinely useful for themselves. The starting point doesn’t determine the outcome. What matters is what you do once you’re here.
-
Not in the way you might be picturing. We work practically and directly, figuring out what’s happening and what to do about it. That said, most patterns often have roots, and at some point understanding those roots is part of what makes the work actually stick. I’ll never push you further than you’re ready to go.
-
No. I work with men dealing with addiction, anger, relationship damage, trauma - all of it. This is a space where you can be honest without it being used against you.
-
A good friend listens. Therapy goes further, helping you understand what’s actually driving your patterns and giving you real tools to change them. I’m also going to push back when it’s warranted, which most friends won’t do.
-
That’s a completely normal place to start. You don’t need a clear diagnosis or everything figured out to start therapy. Part of the first few sessions will be us working together to gain a better understanding of what’s actually underneath the surface.
-
It depends on what you’re working through, but a lot of men notice something shift within the first few sessions, even if it’s small at first - feeling more clear-headed, sleeping better, or just having better language to describe what’s going on. The deeper changes, like how you handle conflict or show up in relationships, usually take longer and more consistent work.
The hardest part is reaching out.
Everything else we figure out together.
