Inner Child Intensives in Scottsdale, AZ
and online throughout Arizona and Texas
Heal the wounds that started before you had words for them.
Some healing requires more than an hour at a time.
Weekly therapy is valuable, but for deep childhood and family of origin work, the 50-minute model has real limitations. By the time you build enough safety to go somewhere meaningful, the session is over. You come back the following week and start over. Progress happens, but it’s slow, and some of the most important work never quite gets the time and space it deserves.
The Inner Child Intensive was designed specifically for that work.
Over two focused intensive days, we go all the way back to the original template - the childhood experiences, relationships, and messages that shaped how you see yourself, how you love, and how you move through the world. We don’t just talk about it. We work with it at a felt level, using Pia Mellody’s approach to childhood trauma alongside inner child healing and experiential work.
This is the foundation beneath everything else.
What is an Inner Child Intensive?
An Inner Child Intensive is a private, immersive two-day experience that takes you all the way back to where your patterns started. Through a combination of psychoeducation, timeline work, and experiential reparenting, we build a thorough understanding of how your childhood shaped who you are today, and begin the work of healing it.
The goal of this work is to help you understand the original template. Not to assign blame, but to finally make sense of the patterns that have followed you into adulthood.
Clients who do this work often experience:
A deeper understanding of why they are the way they are, and more compassion for it
Relief from shame that has felt like a permanent part of their identity
Clearer insight into their relationship patterns and where they actually started
A felt sense of connection to the younger parts of themselves
A stronger foundation for any ongoing therapy or trauma processing work that follows
A shift in how they relate to themselves - less critical, more grounded
The Inner Child Intensive is a good fit if…
You’ve always known your childhood is affecting you but haven’t been able to connect the dots
You’ve done the surface-level work and you’re ready to go all the way to the root
You’re about to begin trauma therapy and want a strong foundation before diving in
You’ve been in therapy for years and feel like something important hasn’t been touched yet
You struggle with codependency, people pleasing, or chronic shame
You have low insight into your patterns and want to build that foundation to go deeper
You want to do significant, meaningful work in a focused period of time rather than chipping away at it weekly
The Inner Child Intensive Structure
The Inner Child Intensive follows a four-part structure designed to make your time as effective and safe as possible.
We will meet for an intake session to discuss your history, your goals, and what you’re hoping to get out of the intensive. I’ll also send you structured homework to complete before Day 1 of the intensive. This preparation work is essential and makes your intensive time significantly more effective.
Intake session (50 minutes)
We begin with psychoeducation on childhood wounding and developmental immaturity, then move into your timeline. We work through your family of origin including the relationships, the dynamics, the spoken and unspoken rules, and begin identifying the wounds and messages that have been running your life.
Intensive Day 1: Timeline & Debriefing (5 hours)
The second day moves into the experiential work - inner child healing, letter writing, and the reparenting process. This is often the most emotionally powerful part of the intensive. We close with integration and grounding before you leave. You will never leave in the middle of a piece of work.
Intensive Day 2: Experiential & Reparenting Work (5 Hours)
One to two weeks after your intensive, we meet to check in on how the work is landing, what has shifted, and what supoprt or next steps make sense going forward. Integration is a critical part of the process and this session is included in every package.
Follow-Up Integration Session (50 minutes)
The Intensive Experience
While this intensive is available virtually for those who are unable to travel, I strongly encourage in-person attendance whenever possible. The Inner Child Intensive involves experiential work, and that work is most powerful when you’re fully present in a safe, contained physical space.
Your in-person intensive takes place in my Scottsdale office - a warm, private space designed to feel nothing like a clinical setting. Think soft lighting, cozy blankets, herbal tea, and light snacks available throughout your day. The environment is intentionally created to support the depth of the work you’re doing - comfortable enough to settle in, grounded enough to be held.
For virtual intensives, I will do my best to help you recreate a warm, intentional environment at home. You’l need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a comfortable setup that allows you to fully settle into your day. I’ll send you guidance beforehand on how to prepare your space and what to have on hand.
The Inner Child Intensive is a complete, contained experience including your intake session, both intensive days, and a follow-up integration session. The total investment for the full package is $2,700.
Intensive packages may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your out-of-network insurance benefits. I can provide a superbill for all services. I recommend checking your benefits before we get started.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your goals and whether an Inner Child Intensive is the right fit for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No, and in fact this intensive can be a powerful starting point before beginning ongoing therapy. Many people find that understanding their family of origin and childhood wounding first gives them the insight and language to make their subsequent therapy significantly more effective. This intensive is designed to work as a standalone experience or as a complement to existing therapeutic work. If you would like to continue the work afterward, I’m available to work with you directly or can connect you with trusted referrals depending on what fits best.
-
Yes, and it’s an important part. Before Day 1 I’ll send you structured homework that helps you begin reflecting on your history, your key relationships, and the experiences that shaped you. Coming in having already done that reflection means we can use your intensive time for the deeper work rather than starting from scratch. Most people find the preparation meaningful in itself.
-
This work can be emotionally significant, and that’s exactly what it’s supposed to be. Part of the structure of every intensive day is closing with integration and grounding so you leave feeling settled rather than raw. That said, it’s normal to feel emotionally tender or more reflective in the days following the intensive as the work continues to land. The follow up integration session is specifically designed to support you through that process.
-
The Inner Child Intensive is a private, one-on-one experience which means the work is tailored entirely to you, moves at your pace, and happens in a confidential setting. Group intensive formats can be powerful but they require you to share space and time with others. This intensive gives you the same depth of material with the undivided attention of a trained therapist focused entirely on your story.
-
Traditional talk therapy builds insight gradually over time. The Inner Child Intensive compresses that foundation-building into a focused, immersive experience - covering the educational framework, the family of origin work, and the experiential reparenting all in a contained period. Many clients experience gaining more clarity in two days than they did in weekly sessions. It’s not a replacement for ongoing therapy but it is a powerful complement or starting point.
-
Yes, and they actually complement each other really well. The Inner Child Intensive builds the map and the EMDR work processes the specific memories and experiences. Some clients do the Inner Child Intensive first to build insight and then move into EMDR therapy or an EMDR Intensive afterward. We can talk through what makes the most sense for you during the consultation.
-
Schedule a free 20-minute consultation so we can talk through what you’re working on and whether an Inner Child Intensive is the right fit. From there I’ll walk you through the process and get your intake session scheduled.
-
No. This work is entirely about your own healing and understanding, not about having conversations with your parents or other family members. Some clients choose to have those conversations later on their own, but it’s never required, and it’s not the goal of the intensive. You can do meaningful, complete healing work without involving people who were part of your history.
-
Experiential work means we’re not just talking about your childhood, we’re working with it at a felt level, in the room, rather than only discussing it intellectually. This can include things like inner child visualization, letter writing, and release exercises where you engage in somatic practices to move energy through and out of your body. It’s a different kind of processing than talk therapy. Instead of just understanding a pattern, you’re actually experiencing something different.
What happened to you wasn’t your fault.
Healing it is your responsibility.
